Superhero Identity: The Incredible Hulk

The Incredible Hulk Bust Bank

Real Name:  Bruce Banner

Played By: Mark Ruffalo/Edward Norton

Marvel Cinematic Universe History:  In 2006 Marvel Studios was able to reclaim its property of one of the most famous superheroes of all time: The Incredible Hulk. After Ang Lee’s turn with the character failed to produce a movie franchise, Marvel Studios brought the character into the fold of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2008, the studio released The Incredible Hulk. Called a “requel” of 2003’s Hulk, The Incredible Hulk featured Edward Norton as Bruce Banner in the classic story of a scientist who transforms into a giant, green monster when he gets angry. After destroying his lab and killing several people while transformed, Banner went on the run to South America. Pursued by the US Government, Banner faced his first real challenge as a superhero when he battled the Abomination in the streets of Harlem. After the destructive and brutal battle, Banner said goodbye to the love of his life and fled from New York City. Several weeks later, a now-in-control Banner was approved by Tony Stark, talking about putting a team together.

The Hulk would return to action in 2012’s The Avengers. When Loki and his army of Chitauri descended on New York City, the Hulk would be there to smash his way through friend and foe alike. As the most powerful member of the Avengers, the Hulk would be key in single-handedly bringing down the massive Flying Worms. When Tony Stark fell back to Earth after blowing up the Chitauri forces in another dimension, it would be the Hulk who would save him just before he hit the ground.
