Captain America Figure

Superhero Identity: Captain America

Real Name:  Steve Rogers

Played By: Chris Evans

Marvel Cinematic Universe History:  In the height of World War II, the biggest threat to peace wasn’t the Nazi Party but a secret organization known as Hydra. Commanded by Red Skull, this secret group sought to use the Tesseract to power weapons of mass destruction built by Dr. Arnim Zola. To stop the threat, the US Government launched a secret super-soldier program where scrawny Steve Rogers would be transformed into the hero known as Captain America.  In Captain America: The First Avenger, Rogers would lead a team of soldiers throughout Europe destroying Hydra bases. Eventually, Captain America would come face to face with Red Skull in a fight over the Tesseract. Red Skull would die at the hands of the power device and Captain America, in a bid to save millions of lives, would seemingly end his own by crashing his burning aircraft into the Arctic.

Nearly 70 years later, Rogers’ frozen body would be recovered from the icy sea water just in time to send the superhero back into action against the Asgardian trickster Loki in Marvel’s The Avengers.  As a man out of his own time, Rogers would have to adjust quickly to the modern world as he and his fellow Avengers did battle to save New York City from Loki and his Chitauri army. After New York was saved and shawarma was had, Rogers would go to work for S.H.I.E.L.D. under director Nicky Fury.

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, a friend from Captain America’s past would return as the Cap’s ultimate rival. Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, survived his fall decades ago when he was a part of Captain America’s team taking down Hydra bases. Captured by Hydra forces, Barnes would undergo procedures to become the ultimate weapon. Captain America, Black Widow and newcomer Falcon would find now solace with S.H.I.E.L.D. after the heroes discovered Arnim Zola orchestrated the Hydra infiltration of the espionage agency. To save the world once more, Captain America would have to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D.
